Sawa Africa’s mission is to empower families through education, health, and economic development. Its flagship initiative launched in 2021, the Soma Sawa program, tackles literacy and numeracy gaps among primary school children using the Teaching at the Right Level (TARL) approach, implemented by teachers in the schools supported by Sawa Africa. They work with 25 public schools in Western Kenya, impacting over 12,000 learners with a focus on literacy and numeracy.
Additionally, the program reaches 80 teachers by providing them with targeted training on TARL.
