Rebeca Gyumi started Msichana Initiative to advocate for girls’ education and changes in discriminatory laws that were especially affecting girls and women. In 2016, she won a landmark court ruling in Tanzania that raised the minimum age of marriage from 14 to 18. In addition to advocating for changes in discriminatory laws, Msichana runs community platforms and school programs to address girls’ issues and promote women and child protection rights. Msichana Initative has been a PFE partner since 2019.
