For lasting change to happen, it must be led from the ground up. It is evident that leaders who arise from the communities that they serve and have been directly affected by a problem are often the best authors of lasting solutions to their own problems. The reality, however, is that grassroots organisations are not the focus of many donors’ funding.
Only 0.4% of all international humanitarian funding goes directly to locally-led organisations. Grassroots organisations struggle to access the valuable resources they need to grow, despite having the potential to be more impactful and more sustainable.
At Partners for Equity, we aim to increase access to funding for grassroots organisations. Our deep engagement with these organisations has proven that they can be trusted, are delivering impact and have the potential to grow their programs if supported.
